Caring for an aging or infirm parent is never easy, especially when that mother, father or grandparent lives alone. When the time finally comes for a family member to transition to a more appropriate home or assisted living facility, the son, daughter or caregiver must coordinate the move in the most delicate and sensitive way.
Jerry Kline, realtor with Keller Williams Flagship of Maryland, recently helped a family facing this difficult situation. After nearly 40 years of living in her home in the Shipley’s Choice community of Millersville, Maryland, Mary no longer needed or wanted to live in her massive colonial. Her health and lifestyle dictated that she move to an assisted living facility, and her children contacted Jerry to help sell her home.
Daughter Kathy and the rest of her siblings lived outside of Maryland, so they needed as much local help as possible to prepare the home for sale and handle all aspects of the transaction. Jerry dove right in to the project, helping to coordinate contractors to repair and update the home to ensure that it sold for the maximum price.
The property, located at 742 Live Oak Drive in Millersville, recently sold for $705,000. Mary’s transition to her new assisted living facility was seamless, and the family was very appreciative of Jerry’s efforts.
